grille assembly swap
my grille assembly is pretty chipped up, and I was wanting to replace it. At a local junkyard they have a 99 xj that has one that's a perfect match but mine is a 96. Will the new style grille assembly work for the older style xj?

I think you need the whole front clip (fenders, grill shell, grill, headlight buckets, etc.) There is a write up somehwere on here if you do a search it should come up.

97 and newer grilles will not mount to the 96 and older header panel. www.rockauto.com should have a brand new grille for you for cheap. Like for under 40 bucks, and as little as 12bucks depending on if it is black or chrome.

I agree with them that grille assembly won't fit because it has a different fitting but if it is the only stock available then go search for an online supplier. You'll just need to pay the shipping fee.
