Griding Noise from rear
I recently bought a 1993 Jeep Cherokee country . it has this aweful grinding noise from the rear end. I believe it might be the wheel bearing because the rear tires shack and make some noise. Has anyone ever experience this and what fixed it. i low in cash but want to get this fix

First i would check the brakes you got an old truck. Bearing yeah maybe not hard to do if you are mechanically inclined. Always change all fluids on new old vehicles. Lots of metal in the diff fluid is bad. You can change it and run a magnet through it. A lil metal is expected but if you completly cove magnet are find hunks then that is bad.

I always recommend a complete tune-up after the purchase of used vehicle with all liquid replaced.

A grinding noise is more than likely in the rear drums, its possilbe some of the hardware has broken or the shoes themselves are rubbed all the way down to the rivets cutting into the drum.

ok sounds good. i will take it tomorrow to get the fluids change. hopefully that fixes the problem. and i have not checked the brakes so i will do that , the back two tires are kinda wabely. not sure if its a bad wheel bearing making that noise and its hitting against the drums. i know my drive shaft is kinda bent. . its a 2wd if it makes a difference.

Wheels wobbly.. tighten your dang lug nuts. And you are gonna take it to a shop to get your fluids changed...
Use the forum and buy a wrench set. getting all fluids changed at a shop will cost ya about 400 bucks.
nominated!
ya its just a very very minor bent. the previous owner change most fluids (just checked) but i dont think he change the rear diff. so im gonna get that changed and see how bad it is. as well im going to check the rear drums and tighten the lug nuts. the wheels are METAL if that can make a difference. it really does sound like a metal girding noise.

Ohhhh that changes everything! Mine are plastic so I wouldn't really know...
Haha but seriously, jack it up, take the wheels off and take a look at them brakes. And change the differential fluid. It's simple, cheap, and will give you a good idea of what's going on back there.
