Great performance from 4.0L after a dead battery??!?
Ok guys this recent event befuddles me. My battery was on it's last leg and I had to jump start my XJ a few times after being parked for a week. No problem. Fires right up. This is where things get wierd...
On the first start the engine will not idle on it's own. I have to maintain idle with my foot. After roughly a minute or so it will hold an idle. Strange but ok... The next thing I notice is unbelievable throttle reponse. Very quick. Like a BMW engine. Wap.. Wap... Hmm...
I put it in gear and drive it. Wow! The jeep drives like it has an 8.0L. Great power with small throttle input. This 'symptom' only lasts until the Jeep reaches operating temperature. 5 minutes max..
So my question is: What exactly is happening here? Is the computer relearning AF ratios? And the most important question... How do I keep it running this way!??!
This is all very odd timing as I am considering the purchase of the infamous Edge Trail Jammer chip, intake and TB...
Any insight would be wonderfull.
Thanks.

the only thing i can think of is the dead battery caused the ECM to reset back to the factory fuel trim settings.

and performance chips don't work on our engines at all. Save your money.

What?! Really?! This IS the age hotrodding via software.. I know two people that have the Edge kit. It is very well known as THE one that works wonders with a 4.0L. Google it.. 21HP gain. Word.
The Dyno doesn't lie.

Holy crap! $949 for a chip, TB, and air intake? you must be out of your mind.
$949 / 21HP = $45.19 / HP gained (supposedly)....ridiculous.
I guarantee you the gains they saw came mainly from the larger throttle body and air intake, not the chip.
