Grease gun question

What is the needle tip for a grease gun used for?

A chainsaw roller tip takes a needle shaped tip. The dia. of my tip goes out to about 1/4 in, so I suppose it could force grease into any hole up to that size.

Most CV style or Dual cardigan joints require them to reach the center of the joint.

Sometimes a u-joint is too tight to allow the regular tip to fit and the needle works well.

When I went to service some u-joints the regular tip would not get in there. I went to the auto parts supplier some time ago and he sold me the needle tip.
