grand cherokee tow hitch on cherokee?

I have a chance to get a free tow package off a grand cherokee and was wondering if it will fit on my XJ. anyone know if this has been done or if it will work?

I don't think the Grand hitch will bolt up to the XJ. Just because a vehicle has a hitch doesn't mean it has a "tow package". Usually a "tow package" is optional at extra cost because it includes a larger engine, higher (numerically) rear gear ratio, heavy duty cooling (larger rad & aux tranny cooler), beefier suspension and probably some other items as well that.

The cherokee hitch won't fit on a grand so I don't think it will work the other way around either, but I could be wrong, not sure what years they were
