Default grand cherokee axles under XJ

I found this guy parting out his 99 grand cherokee, has 3.73 gearing in the matched front/rear axles. I've been looking out for some new axles on my XJ.

How will these work out? will i have to move spring perches, what else?

not worth it, the front is a LP30 is make a bad axle worse and the rear is a dana 35 with links also worthless

you can use the front like the 2000 and the 2001 have a low pinion front Dana 30 but it is by far weaker then the HP dana 30. go to the junkyard and pick up a C8.25, HP Dana 30 combo out of a 4 banger for like 3-400 bucks and they come with 4.10 gears as well!

^x2 The low pinion 30 is about 30% weaker than the XJ high pinion 30.

Also the 99 has a different bolt pattern so you would need new wheels as well. It could have a rear 44 but it's an oddball and doesn't have much aftermarket support.

if you're gonna do it, make sure to find a v-8 GC so you can get the 44 off the rear

It's an aluminum d44. It's actually weaker than the 8.25 from everything I have heard and read. I would personally stay away.

It is weaker than the 8.25, but some 99's had the 35 if they had ABS. I'd take the aluminum 44 over the 35 personally.

The 99 model 44 isn't aluminum but is still an oddball 44. They did away with the c-clips the ZJs had but it still has very little aftermarket support but it does have disc brakes.

Also if im not mistaken the rear is also set up for coils if it comes from a Grand, so unless you cut those perches off or make a complete new rear suspension its so not worth it. Plus if it is the the D44a isnt very good to deal with the aftermarket support for em is very very poor. Only one company makes a locker for it and they are on and off with it. Stick with a XJ axle....
