if you smell a rotten egg smell or a clanking niose is another sign it needs replacing also if you have lost power it might need replacing

ya looks like i need one. i have little power when i start going. and it rattles alot and makes weird clicking noises. how challenging is it to install yourself?

also beware that it is illegal in California to alter or change exhaust from the cat forward unless done by a certified shop with documentation. a smog shop could fail you for just that reason cause you don't have papers that say a certified tech changed out the cat. also the California cats are alot more expensive then the 49 state legal ones. they have to have a stupid number stamped on them. i have been runnin a magnaflow cat on my jeep for 5 years now and never had any problems though so the new Cali cats are not any different, they are just more expensive.
