I got a pair of TeraFlex 1.5" rear shackles in the mail today. I've been PB Blasting the bolts on the OEM shackles the past few days. I've never installed shackles before so i'm pretty pumped to learn. Only problem is that i hear they will get in the way of my MagnaFlow cat back exhaust and that i might have to cut off the stainless tip! I'm not to happy about that...but i will post pics of the install later after i install them...hopefully tomorrow.

Do you have a sawzall or cut off wheel? It may be needed with those shackles. I have a 2001 and the bolts were seized to the bushings of the shackles. The only way to get the bolt out was to cut it on each end inside the shackle and then twist it whatever is left out with a pipe wrench. I'm not trying to scare you, just prepare you for the worst.

Maybe an exhaust shop can re-route the exhaust end for you.

Be very careful with anything that makes sparks that near the fuel tank. Just a warning that many ppl don't think about.

Got the extended rear shackles installed today. Took me about 4 hours....due to lack of correct tools....but if i had to do it again it would take under and hour.
One good tip is if you try this install...once you have the stock shackle removed...place the stock floor jack on the spring, shim it to level and then crank it up until it hits the body. This really helped me align the holes up easily.

you can see the difference between stock and the extended. It ended up giving me about 1.5" of lift in the rear....and also gave me so crazy vibrations, time for the t-case drop.

That looks like a perfect stance. Where'd you get the shackles and for how much?

One of the few products that quadratec offers at a reasonable price....the directions that came with it were lacking so i found this tech write up that really helped.

Cool thanks. I was thinking of grabbing a set but i'll head down to 4wd hardware and pick them up from there. They got em for $62 . I thought maybe you found em cheaper elsewhere.

Default Tire size

Hi I just got a 1998 jeep cherokee, and I'd like to chage its tires to a bigger ones, I have been looking to some pictures and how to lift the car, but my question is, if I buy a 31 in tire, do I have to do some especial mechanic work to the car first to use those tires??? or can I just change them without lifting the car's suspension
thanks

I think you will need to lift it 3 inches to get 31 on it.

Yeah, the skyjacker shocks i bought (dont remember the size) seem find...i just installed it today and havn't hit the dirt with it yet, but it seems fine...the only test i put it through was jumping up and down on the bumper and the shocks never hit their limit

Yeah your gonna need a 3" lift to put on 31's. Possibly a 2" budget boost lift with some fender trimming will work to. If your mechanically inclined you can do the budget boost lift yourself
