If you plan to plate the frame rails and do so inside (under the steering box) and are only using 3 bolts per side I would limit my pulls to around 6000#. JMHO.

i am using 6 -1/2 coarse thread grade 8 bolts. breaking point for one bolt is 21,300 lbs.

i think i will be able to pull as hard as i damn well please lol

hey jersey guys. we shoud set up a trail ride when the jeeps done.

here is a very ruff drawing of the frame plates.

the black will be the plate. the yellow the rosette holes and the red is the holes were the bumper will mount to

go with a fine threaded bolt for attachment

??? are you saying the bolts wont hold up or the frame

local steel place you say? i have been looking for a place to get metal. i know you in south jersey and im right accross the DMB. where is this place located? address would be awesome...i love google maps

The frame unless plated is pretty weak. Most have flexxed so much over the years that ppl often find cracks around the steering box bolt area.

When I made mine it extended to the coil springs. The place yop have chossen for the bolts are fine but add a few further back towards the coils to further extend the pulling point pressure over a wider range of the plated frame. There are several pre-existing holes to use just precut them before starting your welding. BTW rosettes are very smart of you.

made the template


the other side is going to be a whole lot tougher though. i have to take into account the steering and track bar hmm...

i know its a little off on the end but i adjusted that

i finished the mounts today. i didnt feel like going the full length so i just built long mount style frame stiffeners/ bumper mounts

and then i painted them with under coating.


i know that 3rd bumper mount hole is a little off. i am going to re drill the frame 1/2 to fit there
