Default Got my build sheet - some questions...

Just got my 98 XJ build sheet from Chrysler. I assume some of this is good stuff, but I do have questions about some things... I am preparing for a full lift, re-gearing, the works, and looking for the potential implications of some list items...

Skid plate group - good stuff I assume, or is it going to interfere with the lift?

Trailer tow group - is this NHBP Auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler, NMCP Heavy Duty Engine Cooling and SDUP Heavy Duty Suspension w/Gas Shocks?

Larger alternator - I assume this is good, though 117 is not much

DHAP Lock-Up Torque Converter - what is this?

DSAP Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle - Is this an auto diff locker?

SHAS Front Stabilizer Bar and SH8P Delete Rear Stabilizer Bar - do I need to modify anything?

Thanks for any help and insight...

The Anti-slip rear axle is just a limited slip differential. It honestly wont help for offroading, and if yours is a reasonable to high mile xj it will be mostly useless. But definitely don't count on it being ANY sort of a "locker." And those stabilizer bars are your sway bars (I'm pretty sure) And if you will actually be wheeling then it would be recommended often on this forum to remove the rear bar (doesn't do much) and get quick disconnects for the front bar. These sway bars will significantly limit your flexing. If it is just going to be a street driven lift then leave them. And skid plates are a good thing

You will probably needed extended links for your "front stabilization bar" or "sway bar." Search extended sway bar links for the right amount of the lift you need. The skid plates are a plus. You may need to remove one if you drop the t-case. A larger alternator is good, especially if you wish to run extra lights in the future.

True that- Some XJ's came with a 62amp alternator. Bigger ones can have significant benefits if accessories start being added

All the things you listed are as a result of it being a Limited Up-Country edition. You basically have the top of the line model.

Came stock with:
1" lift
Full Skid Plating (engine, transfer case, and gas tank)
Leather Seats
Power everything
6 speaker sound system
Bigger alternator
Woodgrain
Trac-Lock rear differential (limited slip)

Owner also added:
Trailer tow package (hitch, heavy duty cooling - engine and transmission, heavy duty shocks and springs)
Full time 4x4 transfer case (selec-trac)

Puzzles me that it has that rear axle though...

all in all - great purchase! except for the crappy rear axle you have every stock feature you would want in an XJ.

Veeeeerrrry nice! Grats!

Agreed, bit strange on the D35 with 3.55s. Older tow packages came with the upgrade to D44 with 3.73 gearing. For what is the stock differential ratio for an automatic I can't imagine why there isn't a C8.25 in there

Thanks. I think the RE Lift kit comes with sway bar extensions.
