My '91 XJ is temporarily not being used until after christmas. I want to take full advantage of this time to get some work done to it. I need help/advice/opinions if anyone is willing to offer them.
1) Flooring/Seats- My driver side seat leans to the left. What is the most likely cause of this? I want to pull the seats and pull the carpet to see if I have any dreaded rust and get it stripped and painted. How do I go about pulling the seats and the carpet? Once pulled and all rust fixed, what do you guys suggest? Just use some under chassis paint and replace the old carpet, or paint over with Rust Converter and primer, and then rhino-line it? This is my DD and sometimes wheeler, and I have seen rhino-ed interiors and kinda like them.
2) Exhaust/ Intake manifold- I am finally going to get around to replacing my cracked header. While I am at it, I am going to clean the intake manifold and paint it and the TB. I have a general write-up on the removal and installation, but any pointers would be appreciated. Also, will 2000* Rust-o-Leum Engine Enamel Paint work ok? Or will it melt and burn off? And is there an O2 sensor on my exhaust header or on the exhaust pipe before the cat. converter?
3) A/C Heater Control- I think something is going out in my climate control system. I recently flushed my heater core, and the heat will definantly warm me up, however it seems like the fan doesn't do very much when I have it on its highest setting. It isn't so much a gushing air from the vents as much as a steady flow. Also, I have put the **** on the "vent" setting to blow heat from the vents. If I have the **** on "heat" it just blows at the defroster. And even when on vent, it will switch from vents to defroster randomly. What can I do to fix this?
Thanks for any input guys. It is really appreciated.

it sounds like your heat problem is a vacuum problem. the blend doors are operated by a vacuum line. so it sounds like you have a leak there.
also, the blower motor resistor only controls the lower speed settings. if it is blown, only the high speed will work.
i know the 99+ tj's have a problem with the heater control panel melting. not sure if it carried over to the xj's or not.
also, it does sound like you have a problem with your fan speed, possible motor is shot.
yes, engine enamel will work, as long as it's high temp for exhaust.
your leaning seat sounds like a bracket is bent. there are 4 nuts, one on each corner to remove your seats. very easy.
remove both front seats and center console to remove carpet. it might be tucked up under the kick panels, but very easy to remove/replace.

your going to replace the exhaust manifold, I would go with an equal length header. You can find them on ebay.
Increased power comes from addressing the factory shortcomings first then build on it from there.

I got the APN header. $150 with lifetime warranty, looks solid enough and it's supposed to bolt right in.

I'd bet money the vac leak is a tube under the hood. The ones behind the dash in most cars never rub, never rot, and never leak. Underhood is a different world...hot, lots of people in and out changing parts, pulling dipsticks, etc. Bound to break a line someday.

That sounds more reassuring since I wouldn't have to pull the dash apart. And I have been doing a lot of under-hood work lately. Would you happen to know/have a diagram of the hoses that are linked to the control panel?

Thanks! So if a general look over fails, could I just unhook a line and blow some smoke through it?
