I am scratching my head trying to get together an affordable SYE because I am not a heavy duty off-roader.. I just want to get rid of my TC drop and fix the mounts that were ruined by the TC drop.

I think what I need to do is buy an SYE kit, and then use a front driveshaft off of any junkyard Cherokee.. At least, that is what I have concluded based off of my reading of the threads in this forum..

This looks like a good deal, anyone have any input?

i paid 2 something for my advanced adapters. 170 looks good and from what i can see, its the same parts. never read anything or nown anyone with a "crown" i believe it was called, SYE

looks good to me , also if u use a j/y front shaft u might need to legthen it a couple inches . depending on how much lift u got.

I think you have 2 different options you're trying to combine into one. If you're going to use that SYE, you will have to get a longer driveshaft made. If you want to use a JY front driveshaft, you'll be looking at getting a Hack n Tap style SYE. They are less expensive and you will find people who have wheeled with them in the past (like me) and never had an issue. You will also find people who don't like them at all. I'll be going with this HnT set up on my current build. Should be fine for what I'm doing or planning on doing....and at a very good price.

The one you list is the Heavy Duty SYE vs. the Hack and Tap. The basic difference is that the HD SYE replaces the output shaft and tailcone whereas with the HnT, you would cut your factory shaft and tap it...and attach a fixed yoke. Both SYEs eliminate the slip style yoke...just in different ways.

Just drop 200 bucks on a advance adaptors sye and get a front shaft from the j/y.
Here's my set up. it works great and I have no vibes

DAN....for some reason I thought there would be a length issue with using a front shaft with one of the HD SYEs......no issues with what you're running? Looks like the best of both worlds.....nice.....

And that pic was with the rear axle at full droop. The shaft is off a 94 which is the longest front shaft I know of 30"

I am only lifted with a 3" RC lift.. I know some will say that I don't need an SYE, but I had some vibes and running after the install, and a TC drop is only a band-aid.. so with a 3" lift I am hoping to get by with the front driveshaft.. i am pretty new to all of this, so I kind of learn as I go, I hope it all works out. Getting some 31x10.5 BFG K/O's on Friday

im gonna be doin a 4.5 lift and ive bin told so many things about the sye im getting the HD sye but i was told my stock DS would work, i was also told i didt have to touch my front DS if any of this wrong?

yes it is, you cant use your stock ds, you have to get a cv one with slip joint in the middle of it, and your front ds is fine, the only thing you have to do is pull it off when your doing the sye, but thats not really related to it, like jeepingdan said you can get the sye and pick up a front ds from a cherokee at the junkyard and it will work fine, im going the same route as him

that should be when its longest when the suspension drops down? and shortest when its compressed and closer to tcase.

I will also be doing the HnT with a front driveline of a ZJ somewhere on a build thread they used a 94 zj shaft and it was perfect length and everything. think they had 7-9" lift though. but I have a 8" so its bindin up good at full droop.

is a 94 front xj the best year to get? my rear joint is starting to fail.
