Newb in need of advice
Hey guys I am still in pursuit of an XJ purchase. found this on Craigslist tonite.
http://montana.craigslist.org/cto/972674758.html
My question for you guys is- how easy is it to upgrade the 4.5 rc to something bigger or would it just be easier to start over with my own lift. I think that 4.5 would get things done in my area, but I don't want to end up short. Or maybe this would be a great start lift wise and spend money on drivetrain. Any help would be appreciated. This place rocks by the way.

I just talked to the owner on phone. He said it had 44 in rear and 35 c in front. Not sure on the 35 thing but the 44 is great, right? Also said front drive seems to chirp when in 4wd. He said his buddy told him cuz of lift. Anybody else have that issue? He used a tcase drop kit. He also said tranny is not shifting at right rpm. The front swaybar links have been disconnected. Do disconnects replace the links?

Looks pretty god to me. If you are confident in your mechanical abilities, you're in fat city. Hey...where are you located? Are you in Billings? I'm in Sheridan, Wyo and I'm also on the prowl for a Heep. Although I'm looking for a DD, I'd be more than happy to share a beer if we meet up on a trail.

looks like a clean rig and i have never seen an XJ with a block heater thats kinda cool and the sunroof can be a problem if you flex alot the untibody will actaully stretch and can cause the sunroof's seals to leak but its a pretty uncommen problem i would say go for it

How far are you willing to drive and what are you willing to spend? North Dakota has many options.

I have flexed the crap out of my XJ...to the point that the doors are a little harder to close. My sunroof has never leaked in the four years I've had it in the wonderful Washington rain.

Sounds like a good deal to me also. Caution though you may be buying someone else's headache. He did all this to the vehicle and only put 2000 miles on it. That is the problem with buying someone else's project they will tell you all the good and make the bad sound well not so bad, till you are taking advil every time you look at it. offer him 1200 and 1700 with the tires. I have Hankook dynapro's and they are a nice looking tire.
