I am going to flush my system tomorrow. It is filthy, and dirty, looks like there is just water in it. "I just bought it".
I bought a t-fitting for the heater hose. And was curious about something.
I was going to change my thermostat.
If I leave it out while flushing, and bolt the housing back on,
"I know it will leak temporarily", can I flush it without the engine running then?

Are you going to ge a flush kit? You have to do it running with the kit so it eats up with the heat. Flushing it with just cold flowing water is not really going to do anything.

Oh, I didn't know that. I just bought a kit, that has a t fitting, and a piece that pops onto where the rad cap goes. The guy at the parts store told me not to put any chemical stuff in, that it could cause harm. Made me paranoid.

I use the peak or prestone cleaner, just follow the directions and you will be fine if your system is as dirty as it sounds you could really use the cleaner. It wont hurt anything, the only thing never to use on a cooling system is the leak stop or head gasket repair that **** will screw up the cooling system all together.

I will grab it while I am out this morning.
That's what bothers me. I can see some little metal sparkles in the rad water. I think somebody used that already! I want all that crap out of there.

Be very cautious of messing with the plastic drain plug......they easy to break. The motor does not have to be hot and running to get a good flush. I posted the safest way to flush and not send crap from one place to another (especially into the radiator), in another thread.
