Just leave it be. In about a month of normal driving it will be significantly louder. That's the sound level it will stay at for the majority of it's lifespan. Don't judge it just yet.

couldnt tell you to tell the truth i just remember after i put mine on, was showing off to my future ex girlfriend, went through a deep puddle about a week after i put it on, went in kind of quiet and came out and it was alot louder. was like WTF then got out to look under the jeep and everything was still there..but yeah its just what happens..cant explain it much more than that

YMMV...
I have to agree with OverlandXJ, Personnaly I've never heard a six sound good unless it's a Turbo Diesel I mean not like a healthy V8, I have a MagnaFlow which lets me know that the engine is there but not excessive, When I'm out exploring and such it's better to hear whats around me I think, now that said, what are you planning to do with your Cherokee that you need noise?

you've never heard a bmw I6 straight piped then. even with a glass pak its was sweet but straight piped it was like an f1 car.

its funny, the bmw 2.5 makes the same power and torque as our 4.0 and is still an I6. even the 2.5 from the early 80s and 2.7 from the 70s

I don't doubt that the bmw sounds good don't ever recall hearing one, most of my time has been spent in Alaska and Wyoming, They have bmw's just not a lot. I think the 4.0 is a real good engine, I don't like the fact that it is set up where you can't change the timing and stuff like that. I would call it dependable more then H.O. There are things you can do to the 258 ci but the exhaust never really sounded good. I had a Ford 300 ci Inline Six with duel headers and exhaust, it was a great engine but never sounded like a V8.

ok, so I was told to put running water up my tail pipe to try and blow out the glass ( or crystalize it )... my exhaust goes up over my rear axle, which basically makes it impossible to get water into it, and i dont want to get water all the way up obviously.... I got the pack realy hot and sprayed the outside of it with cold water, and nothing... sounds pretty stock... You guys think I should take out the remaining 2 feet of pipe, move the pack to the very back and put flex pipe between the pack and cat?? Just looking for some ideas to make it louder...
