Question Getting rid of Air Conditioner? Is it possible?

Hi, Guys,
I was thinking about this but never had a close look and did not "investigate" this.
Mine is '96 sport 4.0 I6 auto with AC.
The AC does not cool no crap. Rust here and there on pipes. "Doing It Yourself" fixing the AC system isn't an option for me, I mean I don't feel comfortable in that area. Paying for service - isn't an option for me. And I don't care about having AC at all.
My question is this - is it possible to get rid of AC system doing it myself and how hard is it. Or is it even possible? What would this "operation" involve in general? Would I need to mod something.
If it's too complex, then I 'll just leave it alone. But it would be cool to get rid of not needed non functional system and parts

any thoughts? Please
THANKS, guys

heh heh, I take it as you mean it's a piece of cake job?
Yeah, I've read about AC to OBApump mod, but I don't really need this.
My goal would be to get rid of everything that is possible to get rid of. Is it possible to get rid of the compressor? If so, then what the deal with the belt there?
Then do I need to go to a shop to decompress the system or something before I grab my "hammer" ...heh heh ... That system scares crap out of me ....
I guess I could figure this out, but also wondering if it's worth the struggle, you know what I mean...

I'm pretty sure the compressor has an electromagnetic clutch, so if its not on its just like a free spinning pully. as far as depressurizing the system there's a tire stem like valve on the hardline coming out of the compressor, from there you can de-pressurize and then disconnect everything and it should be pretty simple

I gotta investigate some more how that "thing" works etc, so I know what I'm doing.
Damn, reading Haynes' on that matter isn't help ..., except for warnings, warnings, more warnings and then "go to dealer" advice .... heh heh heh

Haynes is a pile of useless crap. Ok, not completely, but Chilton or a FSM would be a much better investment. only reason haynes sells the things is cause they're the cheapest and most easily available, not cause of quality. Kinda like wal-mart

yeah, point taken. I need a better book.
Those photos of "how they do it" on the back of Haynes(es) are the most annoying part ... the guys are spotless ... heh heh , and does it always take THREE dudes ? LOL
