Default General question which i cant seem to solve..

i have a 98 cherokee limited nothing special but a work in progress... ive been trying to figure out my emissions system.. just to know where everythin is. i can follow the diagram on the car pretty well but i just want to be sure of these things.. i look in the haynes manual that i finally picked up today and was looking at the vacuum diagrams and nothing in there looks any where near my car..

So my questions are where is the egr valve if there is one for my year.. also where is the charcoal canister.. is it that the square box on the driver side rear?? that leads to the gas tank?

Another i had longate my o2 sensor wire and didnt pay attention to the wires theres two white/black/grey no problem other than the two white.. are they interchangeable?

ok i cant think anymore its that time of night when time to smoke(dont do drugs just smoke **** god put it here to enjoy chinky time.. ill contniue next chance i have..
Thank for the help i love this forum best one ive been on..

there shouldn't be an EGR on '98.

no EGR on a '98, the box leading to your gas tank is the evap canister, and the O2 sensor wires are not interchangeable.

IIRC,
The white wires are on the pigtail for the O2 sensor itself. What color are the wires on the cooresponding connector that the pig tail connects to?

The charcoal cannister is near the fuel tank.

the pigtail coming of the sensor has white/gray/white/black i cut those wire to longate..when i did didnt notice that there was two whites since it was covered in crap... i would have to take a look at the connector on the wire harness to see those colors...
