Recently bought a 01 jeep Cherokee limited for taking to sand dunes and maybe some trails. However without noticing before I purchased gears 1 and 2 are combined on gear selector is there anyway to get this to stay in 1st?

 

If all systems are working properly when the shifter is in the 1-2 position the trans won't shift out of 1st until 4K rpms are reached. Maybe under some extreme situations another option would be better but so far it's worked for me.
