ok this is a good disscussion, now does anyone know from personal experience that 4.10 gears with the HO 4.0 engine and 32x11.50 tires will get decent gas mileage??

and i called rustys today and got my stuff all set up to order 4.10 gears front and rear and a new low crawl carrier for the front, but im not sure if i have the 8.25 rear end, how do i find out?

As far as free trade. I would like to see the numbers. I do agree far to many people have been living beyond their means. With a biggier is better mentality. At least we agree that a re-gear is in order.
It would cost less than any make of beater.

Unless i am puffing the pipe here, it sounds like we agree on the same things here. The World economy is in the crapper here. Look at it this way: If the big three were successful right now, the imports wouldn't even have a market presence in the US, Toyota, Nissan and Honda wouldn't have a full size pickup devloped and built in the US (that was worth a damn)by Americans. If the Far east economy was doing well, they wouldn't have spent all the extra time and money on making money off of us. Their profits aren't high, but their volume of product sold is, so in a way it balances out. The big three finally caught on to the sales model that the Imports are using, but it is too little too late. Because of that, we all suffer. I work in the auto industry selling aftermarket auto parts, benn doing it for a while. My sales numbers have dropped in a market that should be favorable to the auto parts industry. everyone's belts have tightened. I will move to the off-topic area with this if anyone wants to continue this discussion.

I get roughly 16-18 mpgs. With 32s and stock gearing. I have done some basic perf.mods, but saw biggest gain using Amsoil and their filters.
Sorry for hijacking, eirlier. Never thought it would go so far.
