Gauges out but to a point.
So i have DW occurring once every couple of months with my Jeep and one time it happened it disconnected my subs and i noticed that the check guages light had come on. Initially, it was for my speedometer AND oil gauge. anyway i turned off my car and started driving my friends car and when i returned a couple of hours later my speedometer and oil gauge was working fine. Every now and then the oil gauge will drop and check gauges light will come on when i slow down. as soon as i accelerate the oil gauge will rise and the light will turn off. Loose gauge? or loose wiring.
Also a side note - whats the worst possible side effect if DW is not fixed and a common side effect( besides violent shake ).

2) Plenty of possible side effects. Poorly worn tires, premature balljoint/any bushing failure, prematurely worn steering components, etc. Oh, and potential accident/death if you loose control.

As Gee Oh Dee said for the oil gauge it could be the sending unit. However if the oil gauge is acting up on its own, depending on how many miles your engine has and how it was taken care of, the bearings could be wearing out causing low pressure at idle. Under throttle pressure builds and the light goes off.

I will still lean toward it being the sending unit. The TJ does exactly what the OP is describing, and she's got plenty of oil pressure. I freaked out when I learned it could be low oil pressure, but realized these motors are strong, and tend not to crap out. I think, in this situation, its best to not worry much and check everything out before getting super concerned.
