The gas gauge, speedomter and odometer do not work in my 97. I have done the ground wire from the dash to the battry. The PO or the PO before him had sunk this XJ in some pretty serious deep mud. I mean there was dried mud under the panel under the steering wheel. There was a witness line of muddy water. I pulled relay and cleaned in the kick panel on the passenger side. Not sure what else to try..Any help is appreciated..I need to get this thing road ready before the All Breeds Jeep Show in York..

Definitely this, especially considering the PO mudded it up so much. Any time you have misbehaving stock gauges, it's always a good idea to check the connections on the back of the cluster. Sometimes you get corrosion on the terminals.

I had the cluster out a couple of times. I didn't clean the connections though.. I will try this and see what happens. I seen where it could be the ground down in the passenger kick panel beside the fuse block. I didn't see anything that looks like a ground, but then again I am 6'1" 295lbs and it was pretty tight in there to say the least..Thanks..
