I would like to get a temperature gauge instead of this idiot light, any recommendations? also once i get this gauge does it plug into the same sensor as the idiot light? seems to me that it would but just want a second opinion

you can just do a gauge swap to a cluster that has a temp gauge in it. just swap out the clusters, replace sensors with sending units and you're good to go.

i run the autometer cheap $15 gauges.

never had a problem with them! i love them!

and it is your preference on mechanical or electric.

mechanical is going to out last the vehicle, electric has cheap universal sensors which can be replaced in a heart beat if needed.

it replaces the factory idiot light plug on the back of the block near the firewall(driverside) if you wanted the idiot light AND the aftermarket gauge they make a special T fitting to allow both in there

JY for a new cluster with gauges run you around $30. You will need new oil and water temp sending units too.
