Are you changing it to get rid of the idiot light? If so find one that is a similar year. You will need to also change out the temp and I believe the oil pressure sending unit for the gauge model or they won't read right. Everything else should be a plug and play.

Straight swap like RTorrez said. Need a new oil pressure sending unit and coolant temperature sending unit (that's the one at the rear or the head). Gotta be another Renix though.

If someone knew about the 2.5 please post to help others but I don't have that either lol. I have the stock cluster and a tbi 350 Chevy motor. All the gauges work except the speedo (I'm sure a simple fix but I haven't gotten around to it yet) so if they work now shouldn't they work with a newer style?

It's not a newer style, just a different option. XJs of the same year had the cluster with a speedo, huge gas gauge and 4 lights OR Speedo, tach and 4 other gauges. Does yours have the huge gas gauge? If so, then you just have to find on from the same era. And if currently your lights work with your chevy, then when you switch to the gauges, they will not work. You'll have to switch out the temp and pressure switches for "senders" meant for gauges not lights.
Unless there's a third cluster that I am not aware of that has all gauges but no tach. If that's true and you have that, then it should be plug and play. If the tach doesn't work after installing, then you may have to run a wire.
