Default Gasket for waterpump

Haynes manual is telling me i need to use a sealer with the gasket. Problem is its 10pm and I have no sealer. Didn't come with the gasket and water pump. Can I just use the gasket? Will it leak?

Probably best to wait until you can dress the gasket.

Permatex® High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket

OEM specified. Formulated for hi-temp applications, or heavy-duty use (such as towing, etc.). Replaces almost any cut gasket by making reliable “formed-in-place” gaskets that resist cracking, shrinking and migrating caused by thermal cycling. Coats pre-cut gaskets to increase reliability. Temperature range -65ºF to 650ºF (-54°C to 343°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids. First generation 1970-1980 gasket maker.

Suggested Applications: Valve covers, oil pans, timing covers, water pumps, thermostat housings, transmission pans

Unless you have to drive is asap, it would be best to wait til you can get the stuff, until then you can get everything lined ap and squared away so it wont take more then 30 min after you start.

I've used spray on copper gasket on my Chevy pickup water pump. So far no leaks.
