Default Gas Tank Skid

Just picked up a stock JY gas tank skid. My 89 Cherokee gas tank has a rubber mat along the bottom. Is the rubber mat suppose to come off before the gas tank skid is installed or does it stay in place?
Thanks.

if it fits with mat, then idk, i guess its fine. issue might be clearance for new skid and moisture that would collect and hold in there... idk for sure, but somebody will... try the thread search?
