Gas tank makes gurgling noise????

Gas tank makes gurgling noise????
I have a 97 Cherokee 4.0 auto trans and when I shut it off the gas tank makes a gurgling noise. The heat shield is in place and I have new gas cap on it. Anyone know what is going on here???? Could it be the surge valve? Thanks for the help. Dan

That is not uncommon in 1997 and maybe a couple of other years. It has to do with the check valve. There was a repair kit from the dealer but its NLA. Maybe time to hit the junk yards.

My gas tank from time to time makes venting noise when I insert the gas nozzle. Like there is some pressure behind the little flap. Not sure what it's from but I'm not too worried
