1996 cherokee 224,xxx miles. Runs decent just started getting a strong gas smell at the rear of jeep. Any ideas? EVAP system? Can't seem to pinpoint it. Thanks for any help

 

hopefully it aint the same problem as mine. i busted mine at the seam and whenever i filled it over half tank, it just smelled of gas. i noticed it cus i just filled up and came out and i could smell gas and i found a tiny puddle.

 

Could be alot of things. Aside from the obvious of filling the tank to the brim, drive it around a bit and look; for what its worth I had same problem took it to a garage and the guy performed what he called a 'smoke test' and found the leak I had......so it can be found is my point
