Default gas smell, possible source

Hi folks,

I can difinately feel some gas smell whenever I get into the car (both the front/rear parts). I did a quick check under the chasis and didn't see any leak

What you will do to trace the leak? Which part of XJ is most likely to contribute to this symptom?

Thanks for reading my post.

Check EVAP system vacuum line and filter. Also check and see if line hasn't came off tank.

More then likely it is a leaking fuel injector. This is a serious problem which could cause the lose of your rig. The injectors especially the older ones develop leaks, which land right on the exhaust. The reason why you can see it is... it is evaporating. Best way to see it is use a flash light and shine it on the injectors when it is kinda dark... will see shiney stuff in the air.

Check for a rusty floor around the filler neck as well.

If you have any leaks near the tank, that's a quick path to the interior.
