Welcome to owning a jeep. Stock normally gets you 18-20 i hear, but lifted/bigger tires drop ya down to what you have lol

Winter blend fuel + ethanol aren't really helping. Start with a tune-up, change all your fluids. Might help a bit...but 15 is pretty close to average.

15 mpg seems to be around the norm.

+1. I noticed my MPG has gone down with the winter gas mix. It's frustrating.

The '93 I had years ago got about 15 in the winter and about 18 in the summer. I would say you are getting the average.

To quote the tag we have for my local club (cnyjeep.org),
"you know Jeep stands for Just Empty every Pocket. It gets 15MPG downhill, has the aerodynamic characteristics of a brick and the carbon footprint of a small country and still makes you smile to drive it."
Yes 15-18 MPG seems to be the norm, I know people who claim more, but have yet to drive one that does better. replace cap, rotor, wires, and plugs, run a bottle of injector cleaner through and change the fuel filter and air filter, other than that, its a Jeep. I did not notice a substantial loss of MPG when I put 31's on, but 33's took me down to about 10m MPG.

17 mpg is the best I've gotten so far. and believe it or not that was running in fulltime4x4 (NP242) not putting my foot in the throttle just taking it easy. sloppy Michigan snow, the next tank i drove in 2WD and only got 15mpg.
whats up with that?

Default Check

Check your air filter, replace if it has 10K miles or more. Run some good injector and fuel system cleaner thru it. If you change your oil every 3000 or 5000 miles run a bottle of injector cleaner thru it at every oil change it only costs a few bucks and will be worth it. My 99 has always got 18 to 21 mpg, winter, summer, uphill, downhill but not over 68 mph, once you hit 70 it drops like a rock. I have 4wd and 355 gears.

I found a jet chip on craigslist for $75. On Ebay I found a cold air intake from crome intakes. New plugs and wires. 5 speed and I get 22 mpg intown and 27-29 mpg highway @ 70 -75mph.
