gas guage?...
my guage gage is never correct... itll say 1/4 tank and then a minute later it says full... its all over the place. lol.. anyone know how to fix this and is there a write up.. iv'e search but i cant seem to find exactly what im looking for..
i image all it is, is a floater.. but i really dont know how to install it...

You are correct. There is a float in the tank connected to a variable resistor that sends a signal up a wire to your gas gauge. You could have a shorted wire but, my money is on the resistor inside the tank being bad by the sound of what you say it is doing.

Many manufacturers had problems with this in the 90's because of higher sulfur concentration in fuels. It builds up on the sending unit resistor causing erratic readings. Newer sending units have been improved to keep this from becoming an issue.

hmm.. im gonna try that first... im sure itll be a cheaper alternative.. if not, ill just try to find a new floater.. thanks guys!
