Default gas gauge problum

i have a 90 cherokee and my gas gauge will not work at all it reads E all the time even if i fill it and someone be for me put a new fuel pump in it and the wire going into the pump on the out side of the pump is pluged in im asuming its the sending unit

The gas gauge sending unit is part of the fuel pump. Unfortunately, if you need to replace the sending unit, you're gunna need to replace the entire pump. I'm assuming it's not under warranty? What I would do is just go off the tripometer if I were you. That should give you a ballpark idea of when you'll need to fill up each time.

thats a good idea but therea pro lol i had it for like 4 days and don no wat i get out of a tank its has a 3in lift wit 31's and 355 gears and its auto my 5 speed one got good gas millage but im qlue less abut this one

Fill 'er up.. reset your trip meter.. throw a 2 gallon jug of gas in the back (i'd secure it somehow.. you don't want it sliding around or tipping over back there) Then drive it till it's empty, note the mileage, subtract 20 miles from that number, write that number down and tape it over your fuel gauge. Then pour in the gas from the 'reserve tank' (your jug had a nozzle, yes?) Now head straight for the nearest gas station, fill 'er up, reset the trip meter and enjoy your 'gas worry free' jeepin' til your trip meter gets to the number on the gauge. (you should have approx. 20 miles to find a gas station)

it takles about 20 minutes to remove the pump and check the wire in side
