gas gauge acting up

my gas gauge says empty most of the time, only sometimes will it recognize the right amount of fuel in the tank

this sucks lol any ideas of what it is or could be?

im lifted 6.5" with 33"s

Sending unit in your tank or a faulty wire coming from sending unit.

yeah i heard the sending units on 98s always go bad, big job though right? its almost like changing a fuel pump.

i'm going to watch the overhead display that shows the DTE and see if its accurate lol

It is pretty changing the fuel pump cause fuel pump is attached to the sending unit. Not to bad of a job to do if you take your time and use your head. Get some wd 40 or pb and spray everything real well for a couple of days before attempting.
