Default Gas Fuel Gauge Stopped Working

Greetings.
I did search but didn't see what I was looking for.
My Gas Gauge is stuck on E. The Light is not on and I have plenty of gas.
The LIGHT does come on when I turn the key on for a split second.
What / What do I check?
Thanks Gentlemen..

I'd pull the gauge cluster out, clean all the connections and reseat it to begin with since that takes about 2 minutes. Then I'd start testing connections and ultimately swapping out the sender...

At least try a different gauge cluster from a friend.

Think the light would still come on with the cluster connection issue, I ruled that out since it comes on when I put the key it.
but will start there anyway if you think so.
THANKS

Does the gauge jump around at all when you start/idle the jeep? If it doesn't move at all it is probably the cluster connections or the wiring to the tank. If it jumps around or reads the incorrect fuel level it is probably the sending unit.

doesn't move at all.
Only the gas light comes on when the key comes on - then it goes off after a second.

I would check the connections on the back of the dash then, and throw some contact cleaner on them (or isopropyl alcohol).
