hey just got a cherokee, did axle joints, wheel bearings, and a track bar to get it road worthy, go to put gas in it and i cant find the damn latch. i would imagine it to be next to the drivers seat on the floor like most cars. but i cant find any provision whatsoever. its an 88 cherokee limited, all stock, flame away cause i know this question is worth it, but help...

I don't think they have a latch. At least, my 94 doesn't, and I've never seen a Cherokee in the junkyard with a latch.

To open mine, I just push in on the left side of the gas door.

 

push on the gas door the side close to the doors mine push's in there to open the gas door

Had the same issue when I bought mine.. I sat at the gas station for 5 minutes looking at it before figuring it out. It took me a while to find this forum, but it has been a godsend. Use it ofyen and be thankful for the answers you find.

 

I bought an Infiniti FX35 and has a problem like this. I looked so stupid sitting at the gas station needing gas reading the owners man. trying to learn how to open the gas cap.
