i have a old futon bunk bed,and i noticed a few people that made roof racks from the metal bars,anyone else done this? if so how?

My son's XJ we made his rack out of a similar futon. The top part with the single mattress is the right dimensions for the XJ. He used it as the base and welded up sides and bolted it to the existing roof rack crossmembers. I'll see if I can get you pics of his

 

Weld a peice of tube on it for your receiver

 

i just lined it up,but 1st i have to sand it down,paint it flat black,since its gloss white now,and bolt it down,ima just bolt it to the existing stock roof rack and put my kc highlites i got layin around bolted on it

 

i'm very interested in seeing pictures please when you get it mounted.
