Fuse Inlets on the Fuse Panel?
I've searched the cherokee forum but to no avail. and I'm wondering on my brothers 94 Jeep Cherokee i'm replacing fuses on the panel under the dash and the little tabs that the fuses plug into have either been pushed through or something. curious as to what to put in there to replace them? or what's the best option here? Thank you in advance to anyone who has advice.

Not all of the fuse positions are used, the unused ones have no clips, or sometimes just the "power" clip with no "load" clip. If you check against the manual, are these fuse positions actually in use?

Yes specifically number 7 is what i'm looking for because this is the one that controls the tail lights and etc. which my little brother is fixing, because while his headlights and etc work the tail running lights do not or the dashboard lights both in the chilton mnual list this fuse as the cause of this problem.

I've never pulled the fuse block to see how it's assembled. Might be an easy fix....might be a nightmare, lol.
Could always remove the affected circuits from the box and wire in new leads with inline fuses.

My first instinct would be to go to the JY and get another fuse panel and then either swap the whole panel if it has all the right connections, or try and pull the parts needed and swap just those. I've never had the panel off before though so not sure if that's very realistic? If that didn't work, I'd probably just bypass the fuse box and do an in-line fuse with new wiring.
On a side note, I had my rear panels out and found a good bit of abrasion on the wire harnesses just in front of the tail light assemblies. It may be worth your time to just run all new wires (or at least follow the old ones and check continuity) while you're at it since a shorted wire or bad connection could also cause a failure!
My 96 has had cracked, corroded, broken or just plain missing wires in half the thing's I've had to fix lately!

I have the same issue on my 88 as well. It is not tight enough to hold the fuse in. When it shakes loose I lose my brake and tail lights. I am also curious as to how it comes apart. Im half afraid to tear into it as its my daily driver.

What are those called? And did you cut the rest off? I was thinking of trying that before pulling it all apart and splicing wires.

Okay first off thank you very much freedgr. for all the information and helping out the other member. and also would those clips work if there are no taps there in the first place? because on my 94 Cherokee that i'm fixing there are no taps at all in the panel so I'm going to take off the front part of the panel and see what's possible under there. and look into the part that you showed in your picture.
