I've had this 92 for a couple months now and the noise is getting worse. Seems to be much more noticeable when I steadily brake to a stop. Right before it stops, a knock is heard from the front end that I can feel through the floor with my feet. I've searched all over and can't find this similar thing to my car so I've decided to ask you guys. I've recently replaced the front half shaft on the driver's side and I know the right front needs a new wheel bearing and that's next. I also today replaced the sway bar bushings and that seemed to tighten things up a bit. But I still feel/hear the knock when I stop. Front and rear shocks are new as well. Anything I may be overlooking?

try looking at your lower control arms. the stamped steel can 'wallow' out but the bushing will still look fine but the wallowed out lower control arm could be fine while driving and then once you apply the brakes the car squats and could be shifting it. i know that happened to my lower control arms. still drove fine with no death wobble or anything but you could feel it and hear it thru the floorboards.

Good idea, thanks. This car I have hasn't had much done to it in the last several years. And when I say haven't had much, I mean fuel and the occasional oil change. Now that it's mine, I'm going through it little by little, replacing things that need it. The floors are rusted to hell and can see carpet from under the car. So that will be a top priority this summer. After that, a lift is certainly in order. Nothing too huge though

Get underneath the vehicle and check where your exhaust piping runs over the transmission crossmember. Oftentimes the hangar will rust out and break, and the pipe will lay down on the crossmember itself and make a rattle/knocking noise from the engine vibration.
