My fuel pump went out on my 95 cherokee sport. I would like to install the tank/pump from my 92 parts rig. Will it work?

My 95 has set for over a year because the transfer case is going out. If you freewheel or try to back up it makes a horrible grinding noise. It will not back up... I was trying to start it the other day to remove the transfer case and the fuel pump won't run (probably because it sit for a year). I tried beating on the tank to no avail. I removed the pump. The pump and tank is really gummy and nasty. I must either get the gum out of the tank and replace the pump or replace the entiere tank assembly.

I have a 92 cherokee I bought for parts (recently wrecked) for the transfer case. The gas in it is alot fresher and if it would fit I would rather use that setup. The fuel pump still works great in the 92.

However the parts books show the pumps to be different. I know the 92 uses a resistor in the fuel pump line and the 95 does not. The pressures show to be the same.

Will the 92 work in the 95?
