Default Fuel System Help

Monday my Jeep would not start, cranks but no start. I checked all the fuses, swapped relays but no start. Tuesday morning I try it and it fires right up. The next day I drove it about 30 miles and it dies at about 30mph and pull off the street. After about 15 min it fires right up and I drive it back home. Friday I drove it about 100 miles and it sputters and dies on the Interstate. I checked the fuses swapped the fuel pump relay with a new one but no restart. I removed the neg batt cable and replaced after a bit and it fires right up. I drive it home after a stop at the Quickkie Mart I pull in the drive turn it off and try a restart and no go, but fires right up the next morning. I just dont know. I do know that when I try to start and I dont hear the pump it wont start, and if I hear it buzz it fires right up.

ok i can almost guarantee you are looking at either a computer problem or a crank position sensor. the next time it wont start, take a heat gun to your computer for a few minutes, turn the key and listen for your fuel pump. i had this exact problem man i really think its your computer from you telling me about the fuel pump buzz. i went through alot of money and parts thinking it was the fuel system myself and it cost me 50 bucks for the computer and it started right up and ive had no problems with it after... keep me posted on this i would like to help you out as i know it gets frustrating..

I think you answered your own question. I don't know jeeps but that sounds like a faulty fuel pump to me.

nvm I would listen to 93xjray

if it was the fuel pump he would have noticed some issues with it before it started not starting and stalling and whatnot, such as a whining while driving and a couple other things.

I had the replace the crank position sensor on my 95 3 times in the 2 years i owned it and everytime it would leave me stranded on a highway. Your story sounds very similar to what i went through.

ive done mine too, but the only thing is when mine had this problem it would start no matter what. if his was just stalling out of nowhere but starting all the time i would agree, but thats not the case here.

I just had a fuel pump issue that I fixed with a new pump. No weird noises or anything just weird stalling and sputter when the tank was low. OP is your tank low when this is happening, any conditions when it is happening (cold weather, hot weather) any weird smells or anything....as much info on the conditions of the problem will help. My problem ended up being dirt in the tank that was getting in the pump causing the pump to act intermittent every now and then.

just check fuel pressure and voltage to eliminate the pump.

Sounds like the pump issue I had, but could be pressure regulator also not getting enough fuel pressure to the engine......my advice ck the pressure and voltage before you proceed anymore

....actually scratch that, pressure reg. would only cause hard starts, not the stalling condition.
