i just put a new fuel pump in my jeep, 1990 jeep xj 4.0. i can hear the pump turn on but im not getting fuel at the rail. there are three wires on the plug to the pump one purple and two gray. im guessing i got the wires backwards on the pump can i switch some in the plug to correct this? or do i have to pull the pump agin?

 

the pump running for a couple of seconds is normal when key is turned on, what about gauge is it working is there fuel in the tank and dotn rule out fuel filter

 

Gauge Never worked, fuel filter is new. And I tried to prim it atleast 20 times
And even opened the little valve on the fuel rail. Im thinking it's just running backwards.
