Default Fuel pump/sending unit replacement

Can I just cut a hole in the floor in the back to get to it and then fab up a cover plate? If so, where is the general location I should cut the hole?

Oops, my bad. New here. 1999 Cherokee Sport. 4.0. I don't really care too much about making a cut in it and since I don't have access to a lift but do have access to welding/air tools seems like the easy way to do it.

Cut a hole, really???? it took me all of about 30 minutes to drop my tank the first time by myself, and now I can do it in about 20 minutes. PB Blast the threads and take a rachet wrench and loosen the two nuts on the two straps, once loose enough you can just push the up and twist the rods out. and drop it to the ground. (obviously disconnecting the fuel lines and wiring first)

Bry, since you are so good at pulling and re-installing your tank, you having easy access to your fuel filter makes no sense at all.
