I have a 99 Cherokee that is in need of a new fuel pump. I have been doing some checking and found that a lot of the replacement fuel pumps put out less pressure than the OEM pumps. Has anyone had any issues with this. ? Here is a review of a replacement airtex pump

Pump Specification state 70to 85 PSI for pump pressure. Static pressure before start-up is only 41 PSI static with no leaking fuel injectors. Running pressure is 52 PSI at engine idle at 750 RPM. This is much lower than the specifications have listed by the manufacturer. Key off static pressure is steady at 41PSI.

Does anyone know who made the OEM pumps for MOPAR ? Maybe Delphi ?

Also has anyone tried a aftermarket inline pump replacement.. Holly makes one for FI use.

I will not install nor will I recommend Airtex fuel pumps.

My favorite fuel pump is Bosch. Yes, you will pay a little more for it, but it is worth every penny. Carter is okay too.

This is not one of those items that you want to shop exclusively on "price". Unless you like doing things twice.

I do recommend that as long as you have the gas tank down, that you replace the entire "fuel pump assembly", not just the fuel pump. If one component is failing, the other parts of that assembly (regulator/filter) are not far behind.
