So im still having this problem with my xj, while back i cleaned it at my buddys. Drove home and not even three miles it just died.

I have replaced the CPS. I jumped the fuel pump to check for power, the fuel pump does run but it wont prime when i turn the key to the ON postition.

I replaced the fuel pump relay and no luck.

Would a bad Ignition switch cause this?

Yes, ignition switch is in play.

Up to 96, there is a ballast resistor for the fuel pump circuit. If it is bad, it can inhibit fuel pump operation (except when the key is in the full start position, where the ballast resistor is bypassed by design).
