replaced my stock fuel pump with a brand new one and it worked great for about 3 months. then all the sudden my gas gauge stopped working and read as if i had a full tank all the time. then after a week or so it started working again. it went like that for a few weeks then today it stopped working again. however this time its stuck on empty.

I've checked all the connections. That are visible at least.

I was also told that it could be a ground?

suggestions?

How should i go about fixing that?

 

Your year- the gauge reads full when the sender is at 20 ohms and empty at 270 ohms, give or take 5-10%. What is the resistance of your fuel sender, measured at the fuel pump connector?

 

will i need to replace it if it doesn't read right.
