my fuel pump has been acting up. i thought it might be the filter, so i went ahead and changed it. although i just changed it not to long ago, i thought id try.
when i turn the key on i can hear the pump run for a couple seconds and then turn off(like normal). before i put the filter back on, i left the line to the filter(from the pump) disconnected and turned the key on to see if it was pumping and fuel at all.
nothing comes out of the line. not a single drop of fuel. is the pump bad? i checked the relay, it seems to be fine.

there is fuel in the tank. a few gallons.

 

Your strainer sock might be clogged. I had mine get really dirty before I had my tank cleaned and it was so dirty that it wouldn't get fuel.

I also had the problem of my fuel filter got so bad clogged that it put to much back pressure on the pump and it blew off the little "L" hose that runs the gas to the line. I could still hear the pump try and prime but because the hose came off it was just spitting the fuel back in the tank.

I'll try messing around with it when I get a chance. The pump sounds like its working.. I got it to pump fuel once, but it hasn't done it since.. I hope it's just gummed up some where and just needs a good cleaning.
