Sounds like you might need more help than I can offer. Does sound like you should check the pressure, they make it easy enough with the right gauge. I can tell you mine is on at least it's 3rd pump. (in 22 years).

Hmm.. alright, I'll try and find that out. When I have the time this week, if I narrow it down the the pump, I'll replace it. I also changed the relay as well.

Thanks

Since you said it was noisy I assumes it's getting power. On the fuel manifold there by the injectors there should be a Schrader valve, like a valve stem on a car. That's where you check it.

Now in order for it to start and run, I have to pump my accelerator before and sometimes during when I turn the key.

Sign of needing a new pump?

I just need to clarify one more thing. It sounds like the fuel pump starts then stops when the car is started. I take it that's normal? Could this possibly be because the fuel filter was installed wrong? I have to pump the accelerator in order for the car to start.

It should only prime for a few seconds as the key in turned towards start ( but not crank ) you'll hear like an electrical noise for a few seconds and it *should* be fully primed. Assuming your fuel pump is good to go.

Mine does it like it should, but I dont think its holding the fuel pressure. I have to check mine at the schrader too.

After driving it for a while, it makes a loud humming noise that can be heard while inside. I notice it while at stop lights. This happened when I was mudding and around the time my alternator died (which is replaced now), so I'm not sure what caused it.

Yup strange noises and running problems. Generally a sign of a pump on its way out. If you do it don't forget a new strainer and a filter.

Is the strainer part of the pump? I already replaced the filter, was I supposed to do it then?

And the pump is accessible without removing the tank, but it's easier with it off?

Thanks guys

Strainer is on the pickup on the pump. It is really easy to change the pump without taking the tank out.

So I went to go double check my fuel filter installation, and the 'IN' was pointed towards the back of the truck. I then turned the truck on several times and it started right up, no foot pumping needed. So I'm starting to think it was a gremlin.. I haven't had the chance to hear the humming noise since I replaced the filter. I'm going to class tonight, so I'll be able to see what happens.

Good to know. Earlier in this thread, you said yours died and started back up again. What exactly was it doing? Did you have to bump your accelerator to get it going? Before I turned it on today, I just turned the electronics on, by twisting the key once to hear if it would turn on. So I don't know if that helped it start up or not. I will be ordering a pump asap and hopefully do it this weekend.

It was just finicky.. some times it would make weird noise sometimes not. Sometimes I had to cycle the key a bunch to get it to prime sometimes not. Most of the time it worked fine then one day it just stopped.
