lol, that's very considerate of you thanks. Well glory be the "precision" assy works, plus it actually fit the hole. Gonna go drive it, if it's still bogging then this Jeep is too weird for me, going to give it a kiss and off the precipice it goes.

All running issues solved, good power, but fuel gauge stuck on full. Back it goes.

After the first pump didn't provide tank level indication, I started plugging the pump in outside the tank and manually moving the float to make sure the gauge was working before I installed it. There are three forums right now on people struggling with crappy replacement pumps right now.

Well, dummy me I've got another Delphi to try if I can manage to get it into the hole. Someone I see in there all the time took back the other one, basically destroyed from putting the pump into original hanger thanks dude. If this one doesn't act nice I'm going to do Bosch 69136. Pickup/strainer? Oh well "cross that bridge..."

I should have said earlier that in order to test the fuel gauge (float) without running the pump while dry you have to remove the fuel pump relay. After that you can turn the key without the pump trying to prime.

Good advice on the relay, thanks. The newest Delphi didn't want to fit again, but I really wanted it to, so it did. Just concentrated on the uppermost of the three tangs (the one that doesn't want to go "in") ... push real hard there make sure o-ring isn't slaunchwise, do the same with the lock-ring right there in the ready place, I used a long 1/4" extension to nest one of those stubs in the female portion of the extension, just the right angle for in and to the right, gave it a few light whacks with hammer and it went on without much protest. Jeep runs, pretty quiet pump, have gauge... gon go drive it now.

Yeah all seems fine so am going to call it good. Guess I'm going to recommend the Delphi mostly because they seem pretty quiet, the Precision was really loud. The Delphi might require a little coercion but its doable and geeze Louise Delphi really should know how to make a decent fuel pump being OE on some vehicles? Certainly the odds seem better than an Airtex or Precision. Btw the Precision sender wasn't working because it's held together by a little plastic press-fit snap and it got unsnapped while installing. Thanks for playing along!
