fuel pump?
K so the other day coming from the mountains the jeep died, but I could get it to start right back up, sometimes it would die within seconds, other times it would go for a few miles, I spliced out the fuel ballast resistor and it stopped dieing. But my fuel pump sounded like it was working overtime, now last night it finally died and I'm not hearing anything from the pump now. Is it fried?

But if you don't hear the fuel pump energize and run for about 2 seconds when the key is turned to the ON position, check fuses, (and relay if applicable for an 89, I can't recall) also check power to the pump with a meter. It very likely is a pump issue.

Not hi jacking your post. I'm working on my brothers 89. It will eventually start I'm not even getting 20psi at the fuel rail. I've also jumped the ballast it will idle but dieing if you give it to much throttle while driving.
