looking to change out my fuel pump on my 88 Cherokee. any recommendations on a good fuel pump

Bosch or maybe Carter. Most people agree that you should stay away from Airtex. If you search on here, you'll find a lot of info about this subject.

Couldn't agree more with the above suggestions.

My favorite fuel pump for the XJ hands down is Bosch. Carter is okay. Factory is great too, but most likely not available for your vintage and if it is, is stupid expensive.

There may be less options for the Renix (87-90) vintage; start doing some searching.

I will not recommend Airtex and I will NOT install an Airtex for anyone, even if they bring one to me.

Is it recommended to replace the entire unit? Or can the factory pump be replaced OK with the Bosch pump?
