I have a 2000 xj when i went to start it tonight it would fire and run rough for a few seconds and stall out. None of the gauges were working and read no bus on dash were the odometer is.Could this be the fuel pump or relay or could it be crank shaft position sensor?

The message NO BUS, can indicate a shorted 5 volt management sensor. The most common one is the crankshaft position sensor.
***Try this. Unplug one of the crank sensor connectors. Then turn the key to the ON position. If the NO BUS message is gone, you have found your culprit.
There are 2 connectors for the crank sensor. The one on the sensor itself, and there is also one inside of the engine bay near the firewall / #6 injector. The one inside the engine bay is easier to get to and is the one I'd recommend unplugging.
The above will take you all of 1 minute and will be very helpful in isolating the root cause here.
